14th World Youth Team Championship
Representing the USA in Taicang, China was a big honor for our U21 players Arjun Dhir, Murphy Green, Andrew Jeng, and Richard Jeng. Sean Gannon was a member of the U26 team and local players (and AJB teachers) Jenni and Tom Carmichael were captains for two of the teams. How cool was that! What’s coming up in 2013?In addition to our regular schedule of classes, summer camps, games and tournaments for our young players the Youth NABC is scheduled for August 1-5. The inaugural Youth NABC was held in Atlanta in 2008 so it’s fitting that the 5th anniversary of the event will be held in Atlanta. Directly following the Youth NABC, the World Youth Bridge Championship is scheduled from August 5-10 and will bring young players from throughout the world to Atlanta. We will be speaking with several afterschool organizations attempting to team-up with them in offering bridge. We are also reaching out to the B.E.S.T. academies hoping to teach bridge in their classrooms. The bridge documentary, scheduled for release in late 2013, will prominently feature USA 1’s participation in Taicang, China at the World Youth Team Championship. Two AJB students, Richard and Andrew Jeng, were on this team which won the silver medal. Two other AJB students were on the USA 2 team, Murphy Green and Arjun Dhir. Sean Gannon was on USA 2 U 26’s team. AJB has come far in its 5 years! From the first offering of classes in local libraries, community centers, schools, bridge clubs to having AJB students representing the USA in CHINA last summer! Our sincere thanks go out to all of you. Without your support AJB would not exist. We hope that 2013 will bring even more productive results and that we can count on continued support from our national, local and regional bridge organizations, AJB parents and bridge players. Our emphasis on teamwork, sportsmanship, learning to think logically, communication with other children (and adults) and having fun in the process is working! Now, we need to continue and grow and reach more children! With your help we can do it! Please donate.....
